If there’s one commonality we can find in the human experience, it’s food.
Not only is food something we need to survive, but it’s baked (no pun intended) into the fabric of society and culture throughout the world.
Because of this, cinema has a unique ability to showcase the impact and influence of food on individuals, their families and upbringings, and the cultures they belong to.
Your submission should incorporate the theme of food in some way. The film itself doesn’t need to be specifically about a certain food, but should communicate an idea, image, experience, or relationship to food. We encourage you to craft a piece that is culturally specific to you, showcasing the diverse ways in which food impacts, enriches, and transforms our lives.
Food is also fun, messy, and unexpected!
Along with its cultural significance, food is directly tied to creativity. Whether coming up with a new recipe or putting a new twist on an old favorite, both cinema and food have the common element of creative joy.
